Abstract

Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Language Learning (AALL) has increasingly been used to support English language learning, including speaking practice. However, limited studies have examined vocational EFL students’ perceptions of AALL in relation to English speaking development. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze vocational EFL students’ perceptions of AALL in terms of Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), and Perceived Speaking Enhancement (PSE). This study employed a quantitative descriptive survey design involving 273 students from Software Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and Architectural Design programs at SMKN 7 Baleendah. The participants were selected using purposive sampling, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, and mean scores. The findings revealed that students generally held positive perceptions of AALL. The overall mean scores for PU (M = 3.67), PEOU (M = 3.65), and PSE (M = 3.71) were all classified as High. Among the seven speaking dimensions measured within PSE, vocabulary received the highest mean score (M = 3.81), while all dimensions remained in the High category. The findings indicate that students perceived AALL as a useful and relatively easy-to-use learning resource that supported English speaking practice through additional practice opportunities, flexible access, error identification, and vocationally relevant communication. In conclusion, vocational EFL students perceived AALL positively as a complementary learning resource that can support English speaking practice alongside teacher-led instruction. Keywords: AI-Assisted Language Learning (AALL), vocational EFL students, English speaking, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Speaking Enhancement
