Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of emotional intelligence and workload on job satisfaction among ShopeeFood partner drivers in the Sobat JOS 3 Community, Bandung City. Job satisfaction is understood as an individual’s evaluation of the extent to which their work fulfills needs and expectations. The ShopeeFood driver profession is attractive due to its flexibility in working hours, incentives, and income stability. Emotional intelligence is defined as the ability to monitor and manage one’s own feelings as well as those of others, while workload is defined as the total amount of activities that must be completed by an individual or group within a certain period under normal working conditions. This research employs a quantitative method with descriptive and verification analysis involving 147 drivers selected through a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS with multiple linear regression, validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and hypothesis testing (t-test and f-test). The results show that emotional intelligence has a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, while workload has a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction, both partially and simultaneously. High levels of emotional intelligence help drivers manage emotions and improve the quality of work interactions, whereas excessive workload tends to cause stress and fatigue, thereby reducing job satisfaction. In addition, based on the coefficient of determination (R²), the R Square value is 0.769 or 76.9%, which means that emotional intelligence and workload together can explain 76.9% of the variation in job satisfaction, while the remaining 23.1% is influenced by other factors outside this study, such as bonus systems, application quality, and road conditions during work. These findings are expected to provide insights for companies regarding the importance of managing emotional intelligence and workload in creating optimal and sustainable working conditions for ShopeeFood partner drivers.
