Abstract

The digital transformation in the economic sector has given rise to the gig economy work system, which demands flexibility, including for ShopeeFood drivers. This study aims to determine the influence of Workload and Spiritual Intelligence on Work Motivation of ShopeeFood drivers in the Sobat JOS (Jaket Oren Shopee) community across five areas of Bandung City using a quantitative method with descriptive and verificative approaches. Data were collected from 120 respondents selected through a saturated sampling technique and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that Workload has a significant negative effect on Work Motivation, while Spiritual Intelligence has a significant positive effect on Work Motivation, both partially and simultaneously. A high Workload was found to decrease work enthusiasm, particularly due to time pressure, performance targets, and challenging working conditions, whereas Spiritual Intelligence served as an internal strength that helps drivers remain focused, patient, and motivated in facing various challenges. Based on the coefficient of determination (R²), the R Square value obtained was 0.620 (62%), indicating that Workload (X1) and Spiritual Intelligence (X2) together explain 62% of the variation in Work Motivation (Y), while the remaining 38% is influenced by other variables outside this study, such as compensation, work environment, work-life balance, emotional intelligence, and job satisfaction. Therefore, this study concludes that balancing Workload management and strengthening spiritual aspects is the key to enhancing the Work Motivation of ShopeeFood drivers and can serve as a valuable consideration for companies and academics in designing sustainable human resource management strategies within the gig economy sector.
