Abstract
Welsh onions (Allium fistulosum L.) are annual plants originating from Southeast Asia. This plant is widely planted by Indonesian people because it has many benefits and contain high antioxidant compounds, vitamin A, vitamin B1 and, vitamin C so they are very good for maintaining and improving the immune system. The causes of the ups and downs in welsh onions production are inseparable from inappropriate cultivation techniques and attacks by plant pests (OPT) such as pests and diseases. One of the pests that is often found on onion plants is the welsh onions caterpillar Spodoptera exigua Hub. Therefore, an environmentally friendly prevention and control technique is needed by utilizing biological agents, one of the classes of fungi that can be used to control welsh onions caterpillar pests, namely Beauveria bassiana Bals. This research aims to determine the influence and concentration of Beauveria bassiana Bals. in reducing the intensity of attacks and increasing the mortality of Spodoptera exigua Hub. on welsh onions. This research was in Karamatwangi village, Cikajang subdistrict, Garut district, West Java province. The research was conducted using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 6 treatments and 4 replications so that there were 24 experimental plots consisting of 10 plants per plot. The concentrations used are: P0 (without treatment/control), P1 (Beauveria bassiana Bals. 10 g/ l water), P2 (Beauveria bassiana Bals. 20 g/ l water), P3 (Beauveria bassiana Bals. 30 g/ l water), P4 (Beauveria bassiana Bals. 40 g/ l water), P5 (Beauveria bassiana Bals. 50 g/ l water). The results show that the application treatment of the biological agent Beauveria bassiana Bals. has an effect on mortality and can reduce the intensity of Spodoptera exigua Hub., as well as the concentration of the biological agent Beauveria bassiana Bals. 50g/liter of water was most effective in reducing the intensity of attacks by 59.56% and increasing the mortality of Spodoptera exigua Hub. amounting to 80.15% of pests in welsh onion plants.
