Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine the extent to which Biographical Characteristics influence Performance with Job Satisfaction as an intervening variable among sales employees at PT. Bersama Zatta Jaya Tbk in Bandung. The research is motivated by the importance of high-quality human resources as a key determinant of organizational success, particularly within the sales department, which plays a strategic role in achieving sales targets and maintaining strong relationships with customers. The research method employed is a quantitative approach with both descriptive and verificative characteristics, allowing the researcher not only to describe the conditions of the studied variables but also to test causal relationships among them. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and the distribution of questionnaires using a Likert scale to the respondents. The study population consisted of 247 contract-based sales employees, and the sample size was determined using the Slovin formula, resulting in 153 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using statistical tests, including path analysis, to examine both direct and indirect effects between the variables. The findings indicate that Biographical Characteristics (X) have a significant influence on Job Satisfaction (Z) and also a significant impact on Performance (Y). Furthermore, Job Satisfaction (Z) was found to have a significant effect on Performance (Y) while simultaneously acting as a mediating variable that strengthens the indirect relationship between Biographical Characteristics (X) and Performance (Y). These findings emphasize that biographical factors inherent in employees, when supported by higher levels of job satisfaction, can contribute to improving the performance of sales employees more optimally. Keywords: Biographical Characteristics, Job Satisfaction, Performance
